Church of Crown Heights
450 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn NY
is having its first JAZZ VESPERS on SUNDAY, APRIL 26, from 3 to 5 PM.
Patience Higgins and the Sugarhill Gang will be our first performers.
Why is this important beyond the obvious?
It’s another chance to keep jazz alive, and to bring it to people who would probably not go out to a club to hear it or support it otherwise. Jazz Vespers bridge the gap between the secular and the sacred, music(s) of the original American art forms and the experience and expressions of a people. You can support this effort, one way or another. (There’s a contribution asked of $20. Musicians have to be paid.)
IF SUCCESSFUL, you can be sure there will be future vespers planned. Indeed, many churches are doing this now and its a good thing. It brings us all together in a respectful matter, dedicated to the music. 450 Eastern Pkwy. B’klyn. This event is part of the Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium 16th Festival.
